SynthEyes Filter-Mode Stabilization Tutorial

This flash movie demonstrates SynthEyes's stabilization system running in filter mode, which is used for long "traveling" shots. In this case, the source footage is from a Stickypod stuck on the front windshield of a car and then driven down the road. After you watch the video, read our white-paper on why you need SynthEyes stabilization, find out more about SynthEyes, or go get the SynthEyes demo edition.

If your browser security does not permit flash movies, you can download the stabilization quicktime (21 MB).

Once you've watched the tutorial, you may want to check out the side-by-side source and stabilized footage: right-click and download the following splitstab.mov quicktime (3/4  resolution, 0:23, 17.3 MB).

Notes:

  1. The video is 3:18 and 7.2 MB long. The stabilizer lets you do a lot more things than we can show here. Check out all the other tutorials and the manual too (after downloading the demo version).
  2. The stickypod is a great low-cost solution to attaching cameras to vehicles. This footage wound up a bit jumpier than usual because the camera is a lightweight Canon Optura Pi, which has a plastic camera mount that is not very rigid.
  3. Mac version is the same, done on a PC due to capture software availability.
